Learning to see workshop – photography as a path with Manfred Jasmund

  • Referent:

Photograph more consciously. See more creatively. Tell stories more personally.

Photography is much more than technology, perfect image editing or getting as many likes as possible. Images are not just created with a camera – they are created in our heads, in our feelings and in the way we perceive our environment.

This is exactly where this special workshop comes in. Together, the participants discover a more conscious approach to photography – away from thinking purely in terms of results and towards the creative process.

At a time when social media often dictates how pictures should look and which motifs “work”, this workshop invites you to rediscover your own photographic eye. Instead of copying familiar looks or traveling to the same places as everyone else, the aim is to discover personal expression in photography.

Participants learn to perceive motifs in everyday life more consciously, to concentrate on the essentials and to walk through their surroundings with open eyes. It is not the perfect equipment that plays the main role here, but your own perception. After all, the strongest images are often created when you work in a reduced way and photograph consciously.

Another focus of the workshop is on the creative mindset: How do image looks influence your own visual language? Why can less technology sometimes lead to better images? And how does photography change when you photograph more slowly, more consciously and perhaps even manually again?

In addition to inspiring food for thought, participants will be given practical exercises to help them rediscover motifs and further develop their own photographic style. The idea of a personal photo diary is also introduced – as a creative tool for more focus, mindfulness and photographic development.

After a detailed, very inspiring lecture, the course moves into practice after approx. 2 hours: during guided exercises and a joint photo walk, participants put what they have learned directly into practice and experience how their own view of motifs and image composition changes.

What makes it special: This workshop is really aimed at everyone. Whether smartphone, mirrorless camera or professional equipment – the decisive factor is not the technology, but the willingness to experience photography in a new way.

🎟 The workshop price already includes the complete weekend ticket for Imaging World 2026 – including access to the photo fair, stage program and playgrounds.

About Manfred Jasmund

With his calm, precise visual language and his fine feeling for people, Manfred Jasmund is one of those photographers who do not simply take portraits, but allow them to come into being. In addition to portrait photography, his work also thrives on atmosphere, light and authenticity – far removed from artificial over-staging. The focus here is on consciously working with existing or artificial light reduced to the essentials.

In his workshop, Manfred Jasmund not only teaches the technical basics, but above all the photographic eye. He trains the participants’ personal perspective and gives them tips on how to focus on themselves. How do I find motifs that move me? And how do you develop your own visual language from a picture look that goes beyond pure technique?

Participants benefit from his many years of experience, his calm way of explaining things and a workshop concept that is both inspiring and practical. Anyone who wants to find a different philosophy behind their photography, authentic, emotional and with photographic depth, will find the ideal conditions for new creative impulses here.
