Life in pictures – Workshop by Aneta and Dirk Bleyer

The magic of a photograph emerges where movement, light, and emotion come together. In this workshop, Aneta and Dirk Bleyer will show you how to transform everyday scenes into vibrant photographs full of atmosphere, dynamism, and narrative power.

Through examples and hands-on exercises, participants learn to use movement purposefully, convey emotions visually, and create images that tell stories. By deliberately choosing shutter speeds, using creative focus, and employing controlled blur, participants produce images full of energy and expression. The focus is less on technique and more on the photographic eye: What makes an image compelling? How do you draw the viewer’s attention? And how does movement become a powerful visual language?

Participants experiment with different focal lengths as well as the creative use of wide-angle and telephoto lenses. Techniques such as panning, long-exposure photography, and the deliberate freezing of motion with a flash help not only to capture movement but also to make it palpable.

An inspiring introduction featuring striking visual examples is followed by a hands-on session on location. The group is divided into two and goes through two different shooting scenarios:

Scenario 1: In an exclusively reserved photo shoot area of the Action Playground, participants photograph a samba troupe in action under professional guidance. In the process, they experience the challenge of capturing fleeting and unrepeatable moments. Afterward, the group poses for portrait photos. The results are analyzed and discussed together.

Scenario 2: In a relaxed atmosphere, participants can apply and reinforce what they have learned in a focused manner. A juggling performance provides an opportunity for further practice exercises, technical experimentation, and creative work without time pressure.

The workshop combines theory and practice and teaches participants how to create images that authentically convey movement, mood, and emotion.

🎟 The workshop fee already includes a full weekend ticket for Imaging World 2026—including access to the photo expo, stage program, and Playgrounds.
