A good photo captures people. A powerful photo tells stories about the relationships between people. That’s exactly what this workshop is all about: cinematic portrait photography featuring multiple subjects, atmospheric imagery, and visual storytelling. Together, we’ll create images that look like scenes from a movie—full of suspense, energy, and emotional depth.
The focus is not on individual portraits, but on relationships, interactions, and the impact of multiple people within a single image. Four post-apocalyptic actors in the style of *Mad Max* provide the ideal foundation for striking group scenes, duo dynamics, and narrative visual concepts. Participants will learn how to position characters strategically, how to make relationships visible, and how to create tension through perspective, composition, and framing.
A special focus is placed on cinematic thinking in images. Together, participants explore how the foreground, middle ground, and background can be combined to create a compelling visual narrative, and how light, body language, and lines of sight can be used to guide the viewer’s gaze through the scene. We’ll use available light as well as small, creative light sources such as LEDs, flashlights, or reflectors to create atmosphere and enhance the impact of the images.
In addition, participants learn to organize more complex group situations quickly and effectively without making the shots appear staged or artificial. Topics such as visual hierarchies, spatial depth, dynamics, and the emotional impact of images play a central role in this process.
This workshop is designed for photographers who want to expand their portraiture to include storytelling and create images with a truly cinematic feel. Anyone who wants to learn how to tell stories through photography and create atmospheric scenes featuring multiple characters will find an extraordinary creative playground here, offering a wide range of photographic possibilities.
