This seminar is designed for anyone who wants to better understand their camera and master the basics of photography. Many photographers use their cameras primarily in automatic mode, even though modern cameras offer significantly more creative possibilities. Together, we’ll clearly explain the most important functions, help you avoid common beginner mistakes, and lay the groundwork for taking better photos.
The focus is on the so-called “magic triangle” of photography. Participants learn how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO work together and how these settings can be used strategically to achieve the desired visual effect. In addition, the various camera modes are explained in an easy-to-understand way. This makes it quickly clear when shutter priority or aperture priority mode is the right choice and in which situations manual mode is appropriate.
Another focus is on image composition. Using practical examples, the course demonstrates how to perceive subjects more consciously and compose images in a more engaging way. Topics such as the golden ratio, the golden spiral, line composition, symmetry, reflections, and the imaginary triangle help guide the viewer’s gaze in a targeted manner and create more harmonious images.
The choice of perspective also plays an important role. Participants learn how the impact of a subject changes depending on the angle from which it is viewed, and how simple techniques can be used to create more dynamism, depth, and a sense of space.
The seminar is rounded out with an introduction to photography’s most important creative tool: light. Together, we’ll explore the unique characteristics of the golden hour and the blue hour, as well as the differences between daytime, nighttime, and available-light photography.
After the seminar, participants will be able to operate their cameras with confidence, better understand photographic concepts, and make informed decisions about how they want a photo to look—whether that means a blurred background, frozen motion, or a carefully chosen lighting atmosphere.
