In the realm of light – seminar by Dirk Bleyer

Light is much more than just brightness—it is the central creative tool of photography. Those who consciously perceive and understand light discover subjects, moods, and photographic possibilities that remain hidden to others. In this seminar, Dirk Bleyer demonstrates how to recognize lighting conditions in nature, compose them photographically, and execute them with technical precision.

Participants will learn to interpret light effectively and use the camera as a creative tool. This isn’t about dry theory, but rather the practical application of aperture, ISO, and shutter speed to bring out dynamic range, tranquility, or atmosphere. A wide variety of lighting situations will be covered—from the harsh light of the midday sun to atmospheric backlighting and the unique conditions of the golden, blue, and black hours.

Another focus is on night photography. Participants will learn how to effectively photograph the Milky Way, light trails, moving clouds, and lightning during thunderstorms, and what role the correct exposure time plays in these situations. In addition, the seminar covers the targeted use of filters such as polarizing, graduated gray, and neutral density filters, as well as the effects of different focal lengths—from fisheye to telephoto lenses.

Using numerous examples of his work, Dirk Bleyer offers insights into his approach as an internationally active professional photographer and demonstrates how he plans and carries out his projects, including those for National Geographic.

The workshop is designed for both beginners in landscape photography and ambitious amateur photographers who want to deepen their understanding of light and take their image composition to the next level.

🎟 The seminar price already includes the complete weekend ticket for Imaging World 2026 – including access to the photo fair, stage program and playgrounds.
