One Light Only lighting workshop with Julia Schwegmann

fast ausgebucht

KREATIVES ONE LIGHT ONLY is aimed at anyone who finally wants to really understand and creatively use light in portrait photography. The focus is on working with just one light source – and the realization of how versatile, precise and expressive you can work with it.

In this workshop, you will learn how light shapes a face, how small changes in position, distance or angle can create completely different image effects and how you can achieve maximum results with minimal equipment. It’s about understanding light, light shaping and conscious control – not about complicated technology, but about a clear, practical approach to creative light.

Together, we work directly with a model on location and immediately put the content shown into practice. This not only gives you new ideas, but above all confidence in dealing with light and a better feeling for how to create strong images with simple means.

The workshop will be led by Julia Schwegmann, who stands for motivating, understandable and practical teaching and brings the quality standards of KROLOP & GERST with her.

During the workshop, we will put the things we have learned and shown into practice directly with a model on location.

🎟 The workshop fee already includes the full weekend ticket for Imaging World 2026—including access to the photo expo, stage program, playgrounds, and other workshops.

Here’s what you’ll learn in the workshop

  • How light shapes faces and influences image effects
  • How to create different lighting moods with just one light source
  • What role distance, angle and light shapers play
  • How to control light and use it creatively
  • How to achieve maximum results with minimal equipment
  • How strong portraits are created through conscious lighting design
  • In the practical part of the workshop, you will work directly with a model on location and immediately implement the lighting setups shown yourself. Step by step, you will learn how to control light safely and use it creatively.

Your goal for after the workshop

By the end of the workshop, you will have developed a much better understanding of lighting and will be able to take professional and creative portraits with simple means.
