Light is the central component of photography – and often the biggest challenge at the same time. Many people shy away from getting started or get lost in elaborate setups. However, an impressive amount can be achieved with just a single light source – if you use it correctly.
In this workshop, Dennis Weissmantel shows how to achieve maximum effect with minimal equipment. As a portrait and reportage photographer, he works without a fixed studio, often on the move, with a tight time frame and under changing conditions. This is precisely why he has specialized in targeted work with just one light source – be it flash or continuous light.
The workshop teaches in a practical way how different distances, angles and light shapers can be used to create different image effects – efficiently, variably and in a controlled manner. The aim is to train the conscious use of light, reduce fear of contact and fully exploit the creative potential of a single light source.
This workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to improve and simplify their lighting and put it safely into practice – without having to rely on complex setups.

Dennis Weissmantel is a photographer from Mainz – specializing in business, brand and reportage photography. He makes people and brands visible: in politics, sport and medium-sized businesses. As a member of the international Headshot crew, he brings the highest portrait standards to Germany.
On the Imaging World stage, he will show how to create powerful images with a targeted look, posture and light that are more than just a good photo – they tell real stories.
