This workshop with Martin Krolop focuses on the topic of light – but not in the classic sense of “making light”. The aim is to use light in a targeted manner without losing the effect of the image through excessive brightness. Darkness as a stylistic device – consciously used for atmospheric, reduced and aesthetically sophisticated images.
Martin Krolop shows how to free yourself from technical aids such as histograms, exposure scales or warning indicators – and instead work with your eye and intuition. The aim is to think more freely in terms of photography and to use light to set creative accents without losing the atmosphere of an image. The workshop provides numerous tips on how to achieve strong lighting with little effort – in a controlled, targeted and artistic manner.
The course is compact but intensive: theory and practice are intertwined. In addition to teaching key concepts relating to lighting effects, reduction and conscious shadowing, the focus is on practical implementation. Each participant is given sufficient time to realize their own motifs with the model – always individually, without a group shoot or parallel cameras. This creates space for concentration, targeted composition and personal feedback.
Between the active camera units, there is time to analyze images, exchange ideas and consolidate what has been learned. Here, too, the focus is on the individual examination of light and effect.
A model will be available throughout the workshop.
